The prefixxeno-, of Greek origin, indicates "foreigner" or "strange" and has a Greek origin. For example: xenophobia.
This prefix is usually used with a negative charge, especially due to its combination with the prefix -phobia, forming terms such as xenophobia (foreign phobia) or xenophobic (person who discriminates against Foreign). These terms evidenced the rigidity of many people who only accept as positive what is typical of their country of origin.
However, the prefix not only indicates something negative: it can also be used to form positive words. For example: xenophilia (love for the foreigner).
(!) Exceptions. Not every word that begins with xeno- is using the prefix that means contradiction or opposition.
