The tmesis is a literary or rhetorical figure which consists of inserting a word or a group of words in the middle of another word or another group of words. For instance: He will come before, Pablo told me, than expected.
In relation to a group of words, the thames occurs when a construction that constitutes a syntactic unit is fragmented. For instance: Home, everyone knew, green it was at the top of the mountain.In this case, the syntactic unit is “the green house”, but it was fragmented, because a group of words was inserted: “everyone knew it”.
