The suffix -cide, comes from the word caedere of Latin origin, which means "cut" and "kill." In the Spanish language, it forms words associated with the meaning of "to give death". For instance: magnicide, regicide, suicide.
From the same origin comes suffix -cida, which means "killer" or "exterminator" and refers to the agent of the aforementioned action. For instance: homiacid, pestiacid, ratiacid.
The suffixes they are morphemes, that is, small units that are added to the end of a word to change its meaning.
