Use of Uppercase and Lowercase
The letters are graphemes or symbols that constitute the words that are part of a certain language. The letters can be classified according to their size and function in:
The letters upper case and lower case They can be written both in italics and in printed form and carry an accent, if the accentuation rules so provide. For instance: condor, Africa, heart, Angel.
When are capital letters used?
In addition to being used at the beginning of all sentences, capital letters are used in some special cases:
When are lowercase used?
The lowercase letters They are used in those cases in which the word is not starting a sentence and in the rest of the words that do not belong to the categories that are capitalized. For instance: Monday, table, collectors.
Words are always written in lower case, except for those cases in which the rule states that it must capitalize (such as proper names, trademarks, acronyms, deities, festivals, the Roman numerals, the titles of artistic works, among others).
Some of the words that are lowercase, and tend to lead to confusion, are: the days of the week, the seasons of the year, the months of the year, musical notes, the names of subjects, names, names of tribes or peoples, imaginary lines of planet Earth, names of religions, names of positions (such as president or minister), among many others. They are all lowercase. For instance: tuesday, august, history, canadian, f minor, catholicism, mayor.
