Preterite, co-preterite, post-preterite and pre-preterite
The preterite, the copreterite, the postpreterite and the antepreterite are some of the verb tenses from Spanish. For instance: I loved, sang, would go out, had eaten.
These four verb tenses are used to indicate that an action, a process or a state occurred in the past, that is, they are prior to the moment of speech (although in some cases, they can be used to indicate that something is related to the present or the future).
These verb tenses belong to indicative mood (the way that is used to talk about actions, processes or states that are considered real).
The past, the past, and the post-past are simple times, that is to say, verb tenses that are conjugated in a single word. For instance: danced, cleaned, would come.
Instead, the forefather is a Compound time, that is, a verb tense that is formed with two words (the verb to have conjugated in the past tense followed by a participle). For instance: I had said, had hidden, they had asked.
Preterite
The past tense, also called simple past perfect, is used to indicate that an action happened in a time before the present and at a specific moment and that it ended in the past. For instance: wrote, they entered, we bought.

The copreterite, also called the past imperfect, is used to indicate that an action is prior to the present tense, that it did not occur at a specific time and that it had a long duration. For instance: lit, ordered, walked.
It is also used to:
Post-past
The postpreterite, also called simple conditional, is a verb tense that usually expresses hypothetical situations and is used to:

The forefather, also called Past perfect, is a verb tense that is in disuse and that was used to indicate that an action is prior to another action in the past, but with a very short time difference between one action and another. For instance: Or well I have entered, the bell rang.
