    Persuasion

    The persuasion It is the ability of some people or companies to influence the behavior of other people. For instance: An advertisement can persuade people to buy one product and not another.

    The goal of persuasion is to convince a person or a group of people to think or do something that, without the persuasive message, they would never have thought or done.

    To achieve this objective, generally, arguments. For example, an advertisement can refer to the reasons why one drink is better than others and, for this reason, people are convinced that it is necessary to buy it.

    However, it is not so easy to convince people. To achieve this, it is necessary that the sender of the message be a trustworthy person, that the receiver feel involved in the subject and that the message is clear, has good arguments and that it is rational or emotional.

    Persuasion is used in different areas:

    1. A candidate for mayor gave a very convincing speech with very good arguments and managed to win the election.

    3. A dessert company ran an advertising campaign in which desserts were given away in supermarkets and managed to increase sales.
    4. In an advertisement for an insurance company, a famous athlete affirms that it is the best company in the field.
    5. A journalist writes an opinion piece so that people take into account the importance of a government investing in education.
    6. On the website of the computer company it is explained with arguments why they are the best on the market.
    7. A president makes a speech using phrases from a national hero to excite the people and be convincing to potential voters for him.
    8. A businessman makes a lecture on television explaining why the government has to encourage internal trade and convinces many viewers.
    9. In a magazine advertisement it is announced that a special issue will be made, but that only a thousand copies will be sold and many people decide to go buy it, because they believe that it will be over in a short time.
    10. Since many people consume a brand of soda, other people believe that this brand is better because it is the most consumed.
    11. A politician takes photos of himself playing soccer in the park with his family, to show that he does the same things as his voters. The purpose of this is that citizens feel identified with that politician and vote for him.
    12. A scientific article shows the results of an investigation on the use of different medicines to treat a disease in order to argue that a medicine is more effective than others.
    13. A company representative negotiates the terms of a service contract with the customer.
    14. A salesperson offers a customer a product that is out of stock, notifies him later that there are no more units available, but convinces him to buy another similar product.
    15. In an advertisement for a cream it is stated that seven out of ten people use this product, in order to ensure that it is the most chosen cream.
    16. A beverage brand gives away a glass if three units of any beverage of this brand are purchased. This gifted item often convinces buyers.
    17. A well-known actress promotes a cream brand on her social networks. Being a very famous person, people believe that the cream works.
    18. A political pamphlet spells out the various arguments by which a candidate should be voted in order to persuade voters.
    19. An NGO launches a graphic propaganda campaign to persuade people to recycle more.
    20. An advertisement for a tourism agency shows images of paradisiacal places to persuade people to hire the services of the agency.
    21. A newspaper publishes an editorial to explain with arguments why it is so important that the law that will be voted in parliament is approved.
