The word rose has, in principle, two meanings: it is a color and a flower. As a color, it is a hue that is produced by lightening the red using the color white. From a cultural point of view, the color pink is associated with innocence and the feminine world. In this sense, the distinction between blue for objects or gifts for boys and pink for girls is typical. From a psychological perspective, this color is associated with friendly, pleasant and sympathetic images. It is part of the youthful and of a certain sentimentality and romanticism.
Just as red is a passionate color, pink is sweet and is very present in creative messages or that convey illusion. Probably the best known example is that of the Pink Panther, a fictional character whose personality it is based on its characteristic color.
The rose popularly understood as a flower
If we talk about the rose as a flower, we find a curiosity: the best known is red and not pink, although it has different varieties. This flower is used in outdoor or indoor gardens and is grown in hot climates. It needs plenty of water and sun and stands out for its fragrance and beauty. Each rose has its own meaning. Thus, the red one represents passionate love, the white one symbolizes purity, the pink one signifies
gratitude and the yellow represents the joy.The symbolism of the rose
Whether we are talking about a color or a flower, the concept of rose is full of symbolism and it is worth taking a brief tour in this regard.
In some localities, Saint George's Day is celebrated, where it is typical for couples in love to exchange roses. In Catalonia is tradition is known as Diada de Sant Jordi and the rose is accompanied by a book (It is celebrated on April 23 and is the International Book Day).
In religion
In the Christian tradition the rosary is said, which comes precisely from the first centuries of the Christianity, in which several roses were joined with a rope and each of them was accompanied by a prayer.
In the political sphere
In tradition socialist one of the characteristic symbols is a clenched fist with a red rose. This logo represents two ideas: the force the fist would be the union of the workers and the rose signifies sensitivity and beauty.
Finally, the pink concept is present in various ideas and manifestations: the Compass Rose, the gay world, the pink press, as a woman's name or as a symbol of Freemasonry.
