Happiness according to philosophers
But the question of happiness is not of these times but that it has been a concern and occupation since the most remote times of humanity.
Where to find it? It was a question that also sounded loud and recurrent in ancient times and of course the most transcendent philosophers were some of those who tried to answer it ...
According to the philosopher Epicurus, happiness is not found in material wealth because nothing that generates dependency can lead to happiness. He argued that happiness implies provision of a serene reason that is capable of producing serene judgments.
On the side of Aristotle he believed that virtue was the way to happiness.
Meanwhile, the philosopher Zeno said that happiness was possible if one lived in harmony with nature. rational escaping passions, pain and pleasure.
Saint Augustine, one of the most relevant Christian philosophers in history, argued that happiness is being close to God and all ends must be oriented to this path.
And for Immanuel Kant, happiness was the result of wanting and desiring beyond moral.
What is opportune and desired, what happens smoothly
Another use of the term happy is to refer that opportune and successful. "Juan had the happy idea of bringing together all the cousins who hadn't seen each other since they were little."
And also when something happens smoothly the word happy is often used to refer to it. "We had a really happy stay at the inn we hired."
