At the behest of the Phonetics (study of the physical sounds of the speech human) and Metrics (takes care of the trainingrhythmic of a poem), Will be called sinalefa to the syllable link through which a single syllable is formed through the last of a word and the first of the following, because they end and begin, respectively, with a vowel, preceded the same or not by the h change. The syllables that are joined by sinalefa will count as a single syllable in the verses.
Then, the pronunciation in only a single syllable of the final vowel of a word and the initial vowel of the next one in a verse will be a synalepha. When the synalepha appears in the texts of a verse, it will inevitably affect its measure, for example: the hair that darkened gold.
Meanwhile, the sinalefa differs from the elision (loss of a vowel or a group of vowels at the end of a word placed before another word that begins with the same vowel) because it will preserve the timbre of the vowels that merge, on the other hand, in the elision, some of these vowel sounds will be suppressed.
