The caves that are found in the interior of the earth attract the attention of scientists, because in them it is possible to obtain valuable geological information. The discipline scientist that studies natural cavities is speleology (in this area of knowledge the studies the geological origin of caverns, as well as the action of water and its topographic effects or the fauna underground). At the same time, the caves are suggestive places for the practice of a recreational modality, caving. Speleology and caving are terms that share the root caving, which in Greek means cavern or cave.
There is no clear border to differentiate caving from caving
Mountaineering and hiking are closely related activities, since both are practiced in nature. However, mountaineering has a dimension sports and hiking is eminently playful.
Something very similar happens in relation to the activities that take place in the caves. Thus, when an underground place is explored for scientific purposes, caving is being practiced, while the
focus recreational activity is called caving. It is practiced in a hostile natural environment, so it is necessary to take extreme security and use adequate equipment
Underground caves are unique places, because in them the temperatures are very low, the humidity is high and the visibility is very low. At the same time, there are narrow passages, galleries and wells. Due to these characteristics, it is essential to adopt measures of safety to prevent accidents.
Regarding the material, the basic utensils are the following: a protective helmet with a built-in lighting system, a carburettor that serves as fuel for lighting, a harness system on the waist and chest to descend into the caves, maillons to close the harnesses, carabiners for anchoring, stirrups and pedals for climbing, static ropes, a moisture-proof overalls and underwear adequate.
Tourism with high levels of adrenaline
Tourists who love adventure in nature seek new stimulating experiences. In recent years caving has become an interesting option. Thus, those who enter the underground caves have an experience with very attractive ingredients: a mysterious and dark place, the observation unique geological structures (eg stalactites) and the challenge of overcoming all kinds of technical difficulties. This version of the tourism Adventure must be done with a specialized guide who knows the secrets and difficulties of the caves.
