Disable is a function used in computing to disable a particular program, operation, function, or system as a whole.
Disable comes from the English "disable" and refers to the ability of a computer system to render one or more of its functions unused or ineffective for various purposes.
Before a threat virus, a failure or problem, or for an operational issue, it is common to use this function to prevent a certain program or system from continuing its functioning. In the case of a computer threat or risk, executing the disable function would have the purpose of preventing the risk from spreading to the rest of the system causing further damage.
In an extreme case, the disable would apply to the entire equipment, to interrupt its use and verify, for example, in "safe mode", what is the cause of the problem or issue operational. The app This action prevents the use of basic and advanced operations, and reduces the system to a restricted use that allows you to browse and delete files, for example, to kill the malicious agent.
A computer may also be disabled for other reasons than security. That is, the system may be restricted from its use without authorization and, in this way, a user outside the computer could not make use of one or more of its functions or access certain or all of its files.
The use of this operation is so widespread that there are software that allows you to disable the system even remotely, to prevent the entry of third parties. For example, from a phone mobile, an instant messaging program or via different alternatives of Internet. Of course, malicious users or hackers can use these same programs to disable foreign operating systems, harming the owner.
