We understand by preserving that act that makes an object, situation or individual maintain its essential characteristics despite the passage of time. There are several meanings or uses for the idea of conserving: while some have to do with maintaining the good conditions of a food or health characteristics of a person, others have to do with maintaining a social order that is considered successful against another that may represent some kind of danger (in the latter case we speak of "conservatism" rather than the act of keep).
Usually, the verb preserve is used to refer to the act that a human being can perform to keep their food in good condition and thus ensure a maximum duration. Although man has always looked for means and methods to keep his food safe and with the best conditions, it would not be until the middle of the VXX century that Humanity would know the most advanced methods of conservation, those that today allow us to keep food for several days, weeks and even months before consuming it. In this sense, the refrigerator as an element created by man is undoubtedly one of the most essential and useful implements of the century. and history since it allows raw or cooked foods to last much longer and thus avoid endless complications due to
consumption of expired food. The word conserve can also be used in the political, social or historical sphere when it seeks to refer to certain sectors of society that are interested in the maintenance of special living conditions and who are suspicious of modernization, technology, changes or any type of evolution. In many cases, these conservative sectors are the highest sectors of society that, having an excellent quality of life, they do not want to see those conditions altered. But in many other cases, it may also be the lower sectors of society who present a attitude conservative before society because it generates fear, unsafety or distrust the abandonment of their traditions in the face of the appearance of new forms of expression, sociability, etc.
