Unimember Sentences
The unimember sentences are those composed of a single member, since in them it is not possible to establish a division between subject and predicate. For example: Thank you so much for everything.
This differentiates them from bimember sentences, in which these two members can be identified (the subject and the predicate).
Unimember sentences form a unit of meaning, have their own intonation and are independent syntactic constructions. For example: Today there is fog.

Types of Unimember Sentences
There are four types of unimember sentences:
- Noun unimember sentences. They are structured in noun phrases, adjectives either adverbials with predication, that is, they transmit a concept or an idea, but do not have a verb. For example: The child, in his world; Lucky!
- Unimember sentences impersonal. They give an account of meteorological phenomena or specific circumstances through impersonal verbs (do and be). when they refer to the weather, or have in its simple conjugation). In this type of impersonal unimember sentences, the verb always appears conjugated in the third person singular. For example: There is a lot of smoke. / She rained all night.
- Unimember sentences of vocative. They are linked to the appellative function of language, since their intention is to attract the attention of the recipient of the message through their explicit mention. For example: Sirs! / Professor!
- Unimember sentences interjection. They are linked to the expressive function of language, since they manifest a state of mind or a sensation (surprise, sorrow, pain, euphoria, etc.). They are typical of communication face to face. For example: Oh my! / Whoa!
It is important not to confuse unimember sentences with those that present:
- Tacit subject. They are two-member sentences in which the subject is not expressed, but can be deduced from the context. For example: We will leave in the morning. (the implied subject is "we")
- elided verb. They are two-member sentences in which the verb is implicit and is replaced by a punctuation mark, usually a comma. For example: My husband on a trip(the elided verb is "is").
