Importance of Laboratory Material
Miscellanea / / August 08, 2023
In the field of biology, chemistry and in the clinical analysis sector there are laboratories where all kinds of tests are carried out and measurements. In these fields, highly specialized material is required, which is key to being able to carry out the various experiences.
Main observations in the areas of biology and chemistry
– The Erlenmeyer flask is used to heat liquids, drying treatments or to carry out solutions.
– The glass stirring rod is used to stir mixtures or to make transfers of liquids.
– The test tube is used to accurately measure the volume of liquid in its content.
– The pipette measures the volume of a liquid drawn from a test tube. The burette is a variant of the pipette and allows you to control the dripping of a liquid.
– The test tube has several uses: reaction tests, heating, dissolutions and in general for current tests with small quantities.
– The volumetric flask is especially useful in collecting gases or for containing liquids.
– The Petri dish is used in biochemistry to culture microorganisms.
Glass is the most common material in laboratories, since it is a heat-resistant material that can withstand high temperatures. Materials can be divided into two groups: those that measure volumes and those that do not (in some volumetric materials, the gauging line appears, which indicates the total volume that a bowl). Metal and porcelain are equally widely used.
The technology incorporated for the correct analysis
Testing is very common in the treatment of some diseases. Some of the employees are those used in chemistry, such as the burette, pipette or test tubes.
In clinical laboratories there are materials associated with heat and cold, such as the thermo-regulated bath container, the asbestos grid or the stoves for drying substances. Another criterion for classifying materials is to differentiate between fungibles (those that can be replace because they have a low cost) or inventoried (those that are not easily replaced due to their high price). As is logical, there are materials that measure the temperature, the mass and the timesuch as thermometers or scales.
Finally, highlight some of the most significant, which include ESR pipettes to determine the speed of sedimentation of blood, the glass crystallizer to crystallize a solution or the capillaries to make samples of fluids.
