Importance of Reading in Elementary

Reading in Primary is a key factor for the proper development of children. Thus, learning to read in elementary school is completely essential to acquire a good education, culturally educated and therefore develop our intelligence.

It is necessary to start from the base that reading is inculcated and it begins to be understood long before the writing. Thus, without previously knowing how to read, even the most essential letters, the child will encounter difficulties when learning to write.

A person who does not know how to read will hardly be able to be prepared for the rest of his learning. That is why it is so important that at such an early age, in which children absorb all kinds of knowledge as if they were real sponges, reading is encouraged and children begin to understand how works.

Not many years ago the literacy rate was much lower, scandalously lower, than it is today. Learning to read meant that said literacy increased considerably, making it possible for people to have access to more qualified positions and people to be better trained; and it is that we remember that in the past learning was intended for the wealthy classes, thus leaving a large number of people without notions of reading or writing.

Fortunately, that has changed, and with public education we get our children to learn to read from a very early age, thus being able to train correctly to perform jobs in the future, from the simplest to the most complex.

Notably correct learning of reading methods is completely linked to school failure or success. Thus, children who have difficulties in learning to read in primary school and who later have no reinforcement from their families and teachers, are more likely to end in failure school. For this reason, it is important that teachers focus on those children who present the greatest problems when it comes to starting to read.

Thanks to reading, the child is able to develop his attention and concentration, two key factors to be able to understand and learn. In addition, reading can generate reflection and dialogue, something that will help us to form critical individuals with their own opinions.

Finally, although reading itself is essential for learning, it should be noted that by promoting reading in Primary school children will also get them to broaden their horizons in terms of leisure and fun it means. They will be able to enjoy a good history, thus increasing their imagination and stimulating it to the maximum.
