Importance of homeland

In general, there are terms that often lead to confusion or that many people use indefinitely, but that do not refer to the same thing. Of those cases, one is the "conflict" that usually arises between the terms homeland, country, nation and state. Although they all seem to allude to the same thing, they are not, and each one covers different aspects that must be taken into account.
First of all, we will say that the concept of homeland is an abstract concept, since we cannot see or touch the Homeland, it is an intangible noun. But here then is where it must necessarily be crossed with the other terms with which it is sometimes confused: the Homeland includes the nation and the country of origin of a person, which in general is where they were born or have spent most of their life.
But this is not always so closed. One can live many years in a certain country, but not feel like a homeland. It is that in the Homeland, come into play the sense of belonging and the identity of the person in relation to the territory where she lives
(country) but also cultural aspects, which ranges from history same of the society specific to that territory to current life habits and customs (nation).Because it is a term referring to identity, the flags and shields of different countries are called patriotic symbols, since in them the identity of that country is represented by means of symbols or icons that are significant for the Nation. The same happens with the anthems of each country that are usually called national songs.
There are other terms derived from homeland, and one of them is patriotism, term that refers to the feeling of love, affection and respect for one's own country (which one considers as his homeland). Another related -and derived- term is the term patriot, which refers to who expresses in an evident and sustained way the feeling of patriotism. In the year 2000, the industry of Hollywood cinema premiered precisely a film -considered a classic within the cinematographic art- titled The patriot (the original title, in English, is The Patriot), starring the actor Mel Gibson, and that shows throughout the duration of the film in what way a person can demonstrate the sense or patriotic feeling of it.
