Modulated Frequency Example
Basic Knowledge / / July 04, 2021
It is known as modulated frequency a signal with a wave that can transmit information; and due to its nature it allows to send high definition signals as happens with FM radio and television broadcasting. Due to its capabilities, it can transmit:
- Television signal,
- High definition radio signal,
- Phone signal,
- Digital data, among others.
Traditionally, the signal of modulated frequency, to transmit radio signals and is different from transmitting modulated amplitude (A.M), which although it has also been used for radio transmission; which is a variable transmission and does not allow sufficient fidelity and consistency to transmit high quality data.
We could say that the F.M it is a fast signal, that moves like a bullet or scratch and does not go anywhere; If a person listens to a radio receiver in an isolated room, he may hear the radio signal. A.M; but to be able to perceive the sign of modulated frequency, it is essential to have a receiving antenna to intercept the signal and direct it to the receiver.
The modulated frequency is mainly based on two signals:
The first, called "carrier signal" or "pulsing signal" is a signal that can increase or decrease depending on the type of signal transmitted.
The second is a variable signal that increases or decreases, producing a constant variable, and is apparently the one that stores or has the information.
Therefore, it is the sum of those constants of the second signal that are transmitted in the line or carrier signal that produce what is the signal of modulated frequency.
On the radio the modulated frequency ranges from 88,000 to 108,000 kHz. But it should be noted that the sound found on analog television is also a transmission from F.M, which is coupled to the television signal.
Due to the type of signal, the F.M may have the intervention of other signals or stations, depending on the quality of the receiver.
The receivers require a medium frequency modulator, which separates the signals improving their reception quality.
The modulated frequency, It is also a more economical system in relation to energy consumption for its transmission, since it requires less power for its transmission.
Nowadays, Digital radio is gradually being introduced, and it is planned to use these FM signals, as well as some VHF and UHF signals, for the transmission of telephone data.
