A lesson is a part of a division that is made for the study of a topic in any subject, (whether theoretical, such as Spanish or mathematics, or practices, such as manual work or physical education), through which a person, usually a teacher, transmits his knowledge to his listeners or students.
Lesson derives from the Latin "lectio" reading, and at the same time from "legere"; Latin word taken from the Greek "legein", which in addition to reading, also means to speak, intelligence and selection.
The lesson and its planning They consist from their origins in the transmission that an instructor or teacher makes of knowledge to one or more students. The name of Lesson arises with more property during the Middle Ages, when in schools students learned by listening to the readings that teachers made of the books they taught.
Example lesson and its planning:
To plan one or more lessons, the following steps are followed:
- Compilation of material on the subject to be discussed.
- Division of the topics to be covered in each lesson.
- Determine the objective to be reached in the lesson.
- Order the material for each lesson, always going from the simplest to the most complex, and according to the capacity of the listeners.
- Prepare the presentation, either through notes, with a guide type writing, or according to the textbook.
- Prepare supporting materials (photos, posters, slides, presentations, etc.).
- Take into account the exposure time, so as not to leave unfinished or half-finished topics.
- Plan exercises to reinforce and check what has been learned.
- Leave a space to answer questions. (in a group or individually)
It must also be remembered that since we are in a mainly oral exposition, one should not speak or too fast and not too slow, since in both cases listeners may despair or not understand the theme.
In addition, the notes should not absorb the reader, on the contrary, they should allow them to turn and look towards your audience, to convey that they are paying attention.
An absorbing note (those that have to be seen all or most of the time, generally isolate the speaker from the listeners.
