A question can be defined as an interpellation through which information is sought. By asking a question, you are expected to receive the required information.

It is possible to identify that a question is being posed, due to the intonation that is given to the expressed phrase, this if it is posed orally. If it is a written question, then it is necessary to place the question marks at the beginning and at the end of the sentence (?).

Kind of questions

According to the type of information requested, the questions can be of two types: closed questions or open questions.

The closed questions are those that can be answered using a "yes" or a "no", or giving very short answers. Examples of these types of questions are: Do you like broccoli? How old are you? Are you going to the party tonight?

For its part, open questions are those that are designed to obtain more comprehensive information. With these types of questions, the person who answers will be forced to elaborate a much more complete idea and to give a greater amount of detail. Thus, open questions demand much broader answers.

When a person asks an open question, she does so because he wants to know a topic in depth, and / or to know the verbal skills of the person to whom he is asking the question. These types of questions are usually asked to experts on some subject, to give them the opportunity to elaborate on everything they need, so that the information is clearer for everyone.

On the other hand, these types of questions can also be used in some types of exams in where the person being evaluated is required to demonstrate her mastery of a topic determined.

It is very simple, open questions are formulated to obtain a broad answer.
