Example of Division of Fractions
Math / / July 04, 2021
Fractions are values that do not reach the unit (the integer: 1), and that are made up of a numerator and a denominator. Like natural numbers, fractions participate in basic mathematical operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. On this occasion, we will talk about the division.
To be able to divide two fractions, the only requirement is:
They have to be in the form of proper fraction (numerator less than denominator; does not reach the integer) or improper fraction (numerator exceeds denominator; is worth more than an integer). If it is a mixed fraction, there will be transform it improper fraction first.
How are the fractions divided?
To solve a division of two fractions, the steps are as follows:
- Invert the numerator and denominator of the second fraction. They will occupy the opposite places as the new numerator and new denominator.
- Multiply online: numerators with each other, denominators with each other.
- If the result is an improper fraction, it will have to be converted to a mixed fraction for a more formal result.
