Work Instruction Example

A work instruction describes, dictates or stipulates the steps that must be followed to correctly perform a specific job or job activity. Although most of it is a document, it is not uncommon today to find audiovisual material that fulfills the same function. The preparation of an instruction of this type is intended to avoid accidents or critical moments in cases or situations that are hazardous to the workplace or employees. Therefore, a work instruction it must present well-established rules and clear responses to contingent events.
Instructions are often presented in the form of manuals. In this way, they must have an objective, a scope and clarify responsibilities. It is highly recommended then that a work instruction is written in a clear and direct language that explains well the procedures to be followed, the possible risks and accidents that may occur as well as the responses that would have to be applied in the event of any incident. Effective work instructions help maintain better productivity and job safety.

Dear Employee:
Below are a set of instructions that are very important. They will help us maintain a good production and, above all, guarantee your safety and that of your colleagues. Therefore, it is very important that you read and strictly follow what is presented below:
- Before turning on the machine, it is important to check that it is clean and without any object that may obstruct its proper functioning.
- The machine must be turned on by activating the green button on the left side of the top panel, which says STAR.
- When started, the machine should be on for about 5 minutes without any material. This guarantees better performance.
- Once it is ready, the material to be cut must not exceed the measures stipulated above. If so, there is a great risk of accident.
- It is important not to force the machine as this can cause an explosion or detachment of the blade.
- It is important not to keep the machine on for more than 12 hours. At the end of this period, it is advisable to let the machine rest for 15 minutes.
Any eventuality or emergency is important to press the alarm button.
