The Biography: The Biographical Note.
Drafting / / July 04, 2021
It is a simple and sketchy writing job; presents the brief biographical data in chronological order; it resists literary beauty. They are cold data of the life of an individual: place and date of birth, studies, academic and professional merits, contributions; is the resume.
I put a model of a biographical note, taken from the book Literatura Mexicana, by Ma. Del Carmen Millán.
"GABRIELA MISTRAL. Lucila Godoy Alcayaga (Chile, 1889-1957), better known by her pseudonym Gabriela Mistral, was a rural teacher. One of her constant activities was teaching, the fruits of which were reaped, both in Chile and in Mexico. She held important positions in the consular service and in international organizations. She received in 1945, the Nobel Prize for Literature. Within her poetry, she learned the first lessons from the modernists, although later she took her own path. The theme of her poetry is love. Desolación (1922) collects the compositions that refer to her first love and her tragic end. All the gradations of the loving feeling are expressed in this book. By sublimating her pain, she sings to universal love, and especially to children. Tala (1938) continues the line of Desolation. Her last book is Lagar (1954). Her first work set the tone for her poetry: vigor and energy. That is why her predilections are in the Ancient Tísiamento, in the Book of Job, and in the Russian novel. This external hardness leads to the deep moral texture of her poetry; she goes in search of the expression intact, and in truth she reaches it with magnificence.
