Characteristics of Critical Thinking

Critical thinking is an alternate way of studying formal logic, but it emerged in the 1920s. the 70's, and consists of the mental process consisting of the expression of the personal criteria of the person who practice.

There is some confusion in relation to the direct contradiction to the expression of one's own criteria. This process has a logical method similar to the traditional one and is calculated upon arrival at the logical point by using a common sense criterion from an apparently non-premises point of view.

Main characteristics of critical thinking:

Thought.- The main concept of critical thinking is finding the truth and questioning the events to get an answer satisfactory, this is not only to contradict or be opposite, but to obtain an authentic answer obtained by own reason.

Outstanding.- We must avoid the influence of the effects and feelings such as dogmas and other types of influences such as external impressions to the reasoning process carried out by the individual.

Critical thinking process.-

There are a series of steps that must be taken into consideration to obtain a clear criterion, it serves to accommodate ideas and avoid sophistry and fallacies that can lead to errors.

   a) Exchange of information
   b) Bad arguments that give the opposite appearance
4. Types of fallacies
   to)Fallacy to end.- Imposition with threats, pressure or violence (This is the truth and or you will go wrong)
   b)Fallacy in principle. Dogmatic fallacy (That is the truth and there is no other way)
   c)Composition fallacy.- If something goes well, the manager does it well (The musicians played well, the director is good)
   d) Generation fallacy.- The leader is followed (If dad spilled the milk from the table, the children also throw it away)
   e) Fallacy of appeal of ignorance.- You cannot prove an assertion (Have you seen God? The other says he does but he can't prove it)
   f) Fallacy of authority.- It is when the will of the authority is imposed. (Papa said that it should be done this way and the children do it even if it is wrong).
