Leonardo da Vinci He was born in the village of Anchiano, a few miles from the small town of Vinci, in Tuscany, near Florence. He was the son of a wealthy Florentine notary and a peasant woman. In the middle of 1460 his family settled in Florence, where Leonardo gave himself the best education that Florence, a major intellectual and artistic center of Italy, could offer.
He was persuasive in conversation, and a great musician and improviser. In 1466 he was apprenticed to Andrea Del Verrocchio, the most important Florentine painter and sculptor. In Verrocchio's workshop Leonardo was taught many activities, such as painting of portraits and paneling or the creation of large sculptural projects in marble and bronze. In 1472 he was entered into the Florence painter's guild.
The first job of Leonardo da Vinci It is a pen and ink drawing of the valley of Arno, he used on August 5, 1473. It is assumed that he had his own workshop between 1476 and 1478.
Around 1482 to 1499, Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan, employed Leonardo and allowed him to operate his own workshop, entirely with apprentices. Here seventy tons of bronze were used for the horse statue, they were thrown into arms for the Duke in an attempt to save Milan from the French under Charles VIII in 1495.
When the French returned under Louis XII in 1498, Milan fell without a fight, overthrowing Sforza. Leonardo stayed in Milan for a time, until one morning he met French archers who use their life-size clay model of the horse statue for practice objective. He left with Salai, his assistant, and his friend Luca Pacioli for Mantua, moving in later that 2 months to Venice (where he was employed as a military engineer), then briefly returning to Florence in late April 1500.
In Florence he entered the services of Cesare Borgia, the son of Pope Alexander VI, acting as an architect and as a military engineer; With Cesare he traveled through Italy. In 1506 he returned to Milan, now in the hands of Maximiliano Sforza after Swiss mercenaries had expelled the French.
In 1515, Francis I of France retook Milan, and Leonardo was commissioned to make a centerpiece (a lion mechanic) for the peace negotiations between the French king and Pope Leo X at the Fiambre, where he should have first met to the king. In 1516, he entered the service of Francis, giving him the use of the Clos Lucé manor house alongside the king's residence at the Royal Palace Amboise, where he spent the last three years of his life.
Leonardo da Vinci he died at Clos Lucé, France, on May 2, 1519.
