In order to understand information, organisms, physical and chemical phenomena or interactions between societies, it is possible to use two different methods: the analytical method and the synthetic.
The analytical method is a method that involves analysis. Analysis comes from the Greek, and means decomposition. Thus, the analytical method requires the separation of a whole into its constituent parts or elements. From this perspective, it is said that in order to understand something, it is necessary to correctly break down each of its components, since it is the way to know the nature of the phenomenon or object being studied, and from this make analogies, understand its behavior and establish some theories.
Analyzing means disintegrating a whole into its parts in order to study each of its parts in depth. elements, the relationships between them, and the relationships that each component has with the whole that is being studying. Analysis goes from the concrete to the abstract, since it starts from the whole that is a real concrete, and passes to the parts, which are the abstract part.
Contrary to the analytical method, the synthetic method implies synthesis. Synthesis comes from the Greek word synthesis, which means meeting. Thus, in the synthetic method, it is necessary to bring together various elements in order to form a whole.
Synthesis is a mental procedure in which the total understanding of what its parts and peculiarities are already known is the goal. The synthesis goes from the abstract to the concrete, since it goes from the (abstract) elements to the concrete and real whole.
Examples of analytical method:
When you want to know if a part of the human body has an infection or if there are cancer cells among its cells, it is necessary to break down the everything (the organ in question, which in these cases is made with a tissue of it), and after breaking down its parts it is possible to know if there is any disease.
When you want to study some social phenomenon, for example, the way in which people relate to each other through social networks, it is necessary to establish the elements that will be taken into account, and study them separately, to finally be able to put everything back together and give a satisfactory conclusion regarding the subject in question.
To study how the human organism behaves in general, it is necessary to divide it into various systems. Thus, 11 of them were established, which are respiratory, circulatory, endocrine, lymphatic, muscular, digestive, muscular, skeletal, reproductive, nervous and urinary. And in turn, to study the behavior of the organism with precision, it is necessary to pay attention to each of the organs that make up these systems.
Examples of synthetic method:
When you seek to solve a crime, it is necessary to piece together the pieces that are found little by little, and in this way you will find the answer and it will be possible to explain how, when, who and where the illicit act was committed, that is, the whole will be reached from parts.
When trying to diagnose a person during a medical consultation (without studies carried out in the laboratory). In that case, the doctor asks the person about his symptoms and, by putting all those symptoms together, he is able to discover what disease it is.
The synthetic method is used in the moments when an object is lost. At that moment the person begins to join the parts to be able to find the whole (which is to find the lost object). He begins to wonder when was the last time he saw her, where he was, what he did next, and eventually he comes up with the answer he's looking for.
