Definition: The word History is derived from the Greek word "iorooiu" which means story or narration. History is a science that studies and interprets the most important facts of the human past examined based on their vestiges. Herodotus is generally considered (484 - 425 BC. C.) the father of History.
The sources of History to obtain your information can be of two types: direct, those obtained orally (chronicles, stories, traditions, myths, etc.) and indirect those obtained through writing (novels, letters, documents, stories, etc.). The latter, in turn, are divided into: iconographic (paintings, sculptures, ceramics, monuments, etc.) and material remains (tools, buildings, weapons, clothing, coins, etc.).
On the other hand, the object of study of History, are the different events that have altered the life of man since his appearance until today.
While the subject in history, will be the protagonists; that is, human beings and the works made both material (paintings, tools, etc.) and non-material (philosophical ideas). The facts that intervene in the event are recounted, showing the laws to which they are subject, by overcoming the terrain of the isolated and casual.
The field of study of History, will be all those events that due to their significance in a certain time and space, have altered or modified the way of life of any society in any of its aspects: social, economic, political, religious, etc. The above is very useful to better understand our current social context. Specifically the human past.
