A power of attorney It is a legal document by which a person gives their authorization so that another can act on their behalf, either broadly or limitedly. The person who receives the power of attorney is known as an agent. As its name indicates, it is a document that has to be done in front of a notary, who is in charge of giving it faith and certainty and, therefore, validity. Any power of attorney can be tailored to the needs and wishes of the person requesting or creating the document.
With a power of attorney various issues can be dealt with. For example, general legal, family, tax and financial problems, employment, benefits and insurance, as well as debt. Based on the wishes of the interested party, such a power of attorney is durable or not durable. The first of them takes effect at the moment in which it is executed or created, while the second begins to have validity when the person who requested it is incapacitated or is not able to carry out the activities that the power of attorney grants to the other person.
It is important that before preparing it, the interested person contacts a lawyer or notary's office since there are other options that can be confused with the power of attorney, such as a power of attorney that is another document that does not have the same effects. In this way, you would have the assurance that the correct procedure is being carried out and, above all, that it is being given validity and certainty.
