A attitude regressive is one that occurs especially in the childhood when the child, as a consequence of a certain event, adopts attitudes that he had already overcome. For example, when the child is going to have a little brother and experiences this news with the fear of feeling dethroned (feelings envy), may show regressive attitudes again as a way of calling attention to their parents to receive Dear. Parents must act with empathy faced with these types of attitudes instead of blaming the child for feeling jealous.
The hue showing a conduct regressive is that, apparently, it does not show a evolution in the child in his process of growth and autonomy according to her age, but it implies a step backwards. It should be pointed out that beyond what is apparent, this type of attitude does imply an important advance for the child, although not at first, but once the child has again overcome these attitudes.
Nonlinear child development
We tend to represent child development in a linear way when in reality, it is a process in which there are stages with different characteristics. The child may also show regressive attitudes as a result of a fear, such as adaptation to a new stage. Or also, as a result of the changes he feels in her life when he knows the news of the parents' divorce.
Important changes such as a change of apartment or city, as well as a change of school also suppose an important variation in the child's routine. These types of regressive attitudes are especially frequent in kids in school stage (first academic years).
Types of behavior
What kinds of regressive attitudes can the child display? Using the pacifier again, wanting to use diapers instead of going to the bathroom by yourself, showing constant rebellion against parental instructions (when previously he did not behave in this way), being very dependent on his parents, wanting to be fed instead of using the silverware by himself...
Faced with any type of doubt that parents have in relation to child development, they can consult an educator who can give practical guidance in a personalized way.
