The acronym AIDA refers to Help Exchange and development. It is a Spanish non-profit organization founded in 1999. This NGO is dedicated to economic and cultural projects related to the most disadvantaged. Its activity is present in 14 countries in America, Africa and Asia.
Its areas of activity include agriculture, forestry, the promotion of micro-enterprises, oil-farming and beekeeping.
Projects
-In Guinea Bissau, work is done on health care, caring for sick people without economic resources (especially in the field of pediatric care).
- In Lebanon, those living in refugee camps are cared for and sustainable tourism is promoted.
- In Senegal there are programs that promote community gardens managed by women.
- In Bangladesh there are projects dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture.
- In the town of Casablanca in Morocco, programs are developed in favor of young people at risk of social exclusion.
- In countries such as Cambodia, Vietnam and Colombia this NGO develops aquaculture projects (the
culture from organisms aquatic is a new strategy to combat malnutrition). Fish farming makes it possible to alleviate the nutritional deficit of populations and, at the same time, is a source of income.- In Spain there are different centers where it is possible to donate books for the most disadvantaged and a photographic contest is promoted to disseminate the problems associated with the climate change.
- To publicize their programs and projects, periodical publications are published in which develop topics of general interest (fight against poverty, human rights, fight against AIDS...).
Finally, to achieve the viability of the different projects, AIDA creates strategic alliances with local governments.
Principles and values
This NGO emphasizes respect for human rights. Those responsible for the entity promote participation active of the beneficiaries. For the aid to be effective, the professionalism of those involved in the different programs is enhanced.
To maintain its independence, AIDA has no ties to economic, religious or political groups and Its main source of funding comes from the collaboration of its partners, at least in the theory. With the intention of promoting information transparency, the audited accounts of the organization are published annually and the annual reports are published.
