The word procession has two meanings. On the one hand, it is a row of people or animals that move together. On the other hand, it is a type of religious march in which the faithful who participate in it celebrate some type of festival associated with their beliefs.
Processions in Catholicism
During Holy Week or Passion Week, Catholics celebrate the passion, death and resurrection of Christ. Throughout this period different religious manifestations take place and one of them is the Holy Week procession.
On Good Friday Catholics refrain from eating meat as an act of penance. The purpose of this celebration is to remember the death and resurrection of Christ. This celebration is accompanied by a penance, the procession. In this way, the penitents parade through the streets in procession and in this way show their repentance for the sins committed.
While in each territory the processions have their own symbolism, all of them have a great likeness. In this sense, the penitents or brothers wear a specific outfit (usually a tunic that covers their body and a hood with which they cover their face). The Catholic groups that organize these events can be brotherhoods or brotherhoods. Generally the procession begins in the church and those who lead the parade carry some type of banner of the
Brotherhood. The route that is carried out is a representation symbolic of the journey that Christ had to undergo until he was crucified. The saying "the procession goes inside"
When a person tries to hide his sadness before the others, it is said that the procession carries her inside. In this saying the term procession is equivalent to any problem or condition that, instead of expressing it in an explicit way, is kept hidden from others.
Caterpillars walk in procession
At the beginning of the spring tree-dwelling caterpillars can occupy wooded areas and parks. This animal is popularly known as a processionary caterpillar and its way of moving in a row is called the processionary.
Allergic effects can occur if people or animals come into contact with the caterpillars. In any case, the modality of displacement of the caterpillars resembles human processions.
