At the behest of the biology, is called as protist to that Kingdom of microorganisms eukaryotes that show a very small size and that certainly differs from other kingdoms such as the fungi, animalia and plantae. It is characterized by having eukaryotic cells and for not having organs or differentiated tissues. Although most protists are unicellular, it is also possible to find multicellular protists.
It should be noted that it can also appear referred to as Protoctist and that within the group include protozoa, algae and mucous mold, among others.
Regarding their habitat, it is important to note that none of the protists has prepared to live fully in the air and that is why those that are not only aquatic will need humid environments, or failing that, in the internal environment of other organisms.
On the other hand, when it comes to autotrophic organisms, its nutrition will have this characteristic and will synthesize all the essential substances for its metabolism
from inorganic substances, made by which they will not need other living organisms to survive. They are then nurtured through the process of photosynthesis. It is worth mentioning that they are also plausible of a heterotrophic nutrition Therefore, they can feed on organic substances that have been synthesized by other organisms.
They reproduce from asexual or sexual way through gametes, alternating both. Now, it is important to mention that there is no embryo in any of these cases.
The protist kingdom is extremely important to the Balance of environment since they are the most notable components of plankton (the organisms that live suspended in water), of benthos (organisms found at the bottom of aquatic ecosystems) and edaphon (organisms that inhabit the I usually).
Throughout history and as a consequence of the advances in technological instruments that have occurred, such as microscopes, it is that the classification of this small kingdom has been changing, since at some moments organisms were classified as protists and then the study was advanced and they were excluded because they did not correspond to the features.
