Internet emerges as a means of present and future possibilities of the network, which are currently the subject of studies and discussions. However, the readings carried out focus on the possibilities that the Internet opens up for study and research in students.
In this regard, José López Yepes tells us in his book Informative documentation: systems, networks and applications, which researchers can find on the Internet. a useful tool for your work based on two fundamental aspects: the communication capacity offered by the network, and the enormous volume of information that day after day appears (or permanently inhabits it: web pages) in cyberspace, and is accessible from anywhere on the planet, to any hour.
Esteban Lorenzo Domínguez and María Xalabarder Arlet show us the possibilities that the Internet opens up for research, which are listed below.
1.- Consultations with experts: Internet greatly expands the possibility of accessing and contacting prominent people in the academic or professional world from anywhere on the planet. But not only is contact easier, but sometimes it can be done without the presence of intermediaries.
2.- Field work: Another opportunity that the network offers us is to carry out various usual tasks in field work. In the social sciences, for example, conducting mass surveys through the mail Electronic is greatly facilitated, with significant economic savings and with less deployment media.
3.- Publication and dissemination of results: The results of the investigations also need a rethinking with the appearance and massive use of the Internet. Along with publications (books or magazines) in traditional format, virtual publications are beginning to be imposed. Their number is growing day by day, and the best ones will undoubtedly be those that appear ex-novo on the Internet, due to their greater adaptation to the network, more than those that were previously published in a traditional format and have now moved to a format virtual. For example, new criteria need to be established since the contents of the articles require some updating. Or how to store these, perhaps adding interactive indexes or word searches (some already have them). The way of diffusion will also be new. E-mail appears here as a means of mass dissemination of this type of publication. There is also a change in reading habits: the new formats, more graphic, more visual, end imposing another rhythm, faster, in which the publications must be attractive, they must attract attention to retain the reader. It is not strange that phrases like this are found: "At present, those who read are those who have…. weather".
4.- Consultation of results, books, information: Another possibility offered by the Internet is to make consultations from online bibliographic sources, such as research results, books and information from any field.
