What is the University?

University derives from the word Universitas, from the Latin (universitas-atis) and is a place or establishment in which higher education granting professional degrees, (Bachelor's degrees), and academic degrees, (postgraduate, master's and PhDs).

It consists of campus, and schools that teach specific subjects. It gets its name in the Middle Ages in Europe.

The first centers of higher studies that history marks us are in China, where there was the first imperial high school, called Shang Hsiang, which existed in the Yu period, (2257 a. C to 2208. to. C.).

In Pakistan the university of Takshashila existed, by century VII a. C., which already granted higher degrees.

The University of Nalanda, (based in Bihar) in India around the 7th century BC. C. it handed out graduation degrees and organized postgraduate courses.

Plato founded the Academy in 387 BC. C.

The current or modern university apparently has its origin in the Arab and Persian universities.

After the Second World War, the United States became a leader in intellectual terms, as German scientists emigrated to the United States. Today it has some of the most recognized universities in the world.

The first University in America, was founded in Peru, and was the royal and pontifical University of San Marcos, in Lima, and its creation was directly Spanish influence.

In the last decade, the National Autonomous University of Mexico was recognized as the most advanced in America Latina, leaving palpable evidence of her ability, training professionals recognized throughout the world for their ability.

There are public and private Universities, there are also those of the churches that impart their own knowledge and of the churches with the impartation of lay knowledge.

There are universities that accept direct payments and scholarships that allow students to study With limited resources, there are full scholarships, ranging from room and board, and half, fourth and eighths of scholarship.
