According to the use given to the term speech, different situations may be referred to.
Faculty and action of speaking
The ability that an individual has to speak is known as speech; "After the shock in which he fell after the accident, fortunately, Juan regained his speech." The act of speaking implies the possibility that a person has to successfully pronounce words, sentences, in order to be understood.
Also to the act of speaking is called speechFor example, the vocal cords are involved in the act of speaking in people.
On the other hand, in common parlance, people often use the word speech to refer to the peculiar or personal way that a certain person presents when she speaks; "Laura is distinguished from her classmates by the extremely warm speech she has."
Use in linguistics
At the behest of the Linguistics, speech, is understood as that associative selection that includes images with sounds and words and that we speakers have printed on our minds, a process that closes with the voluntary act of phono articulation that is carried out and begins the path of any language.
Likewise, in linguistics speech is that linguistic system that has a region, a locality, community, a town, among others, which presents its own and characteristic features within a broader system. In most cases, these dialects that are spoken in regions or provinces are usually handled by natives and those who were not born there, even if they are from the same country, will find it difficult to understanding Y communication.
Speech expression
Linked to the term, it is frequent that we find the expression speaking , which refers, in communication, in treatment, regarding any questionFor example, someone who is interested in renting a house will tell its owner that they will be in touch to come up with a definition of the operation.
And also, in some parts of the world, the expression is often used when speaking in the telephone answers to realize that the person who answers the call is actually ready, listening and to speak with their interlocutor.
Major speech problems
Speech is therefore essential when it comes to oral communication and any complication or problem in it will affect someone's communication skills.
Now, we must emphasize that there are many problems associated with speech that, if they persist, must be dealt with immediately so as not to impede someone's ability to speak.
These disorders can consist of simpler issues solution, such as the incorrect way of using words to serious physical problems such as deafness that directly affects the ability to speak.
Another very common difficulty that is added to those mentioned is dysphonia, in the most severe cases the person cannot directly emit sound. This is often due to significant stresses caused by speech, such as screaming, angina or flu that affects the throat, or a disease in the vocal cords.
For its part, stuttering is usually another common speech disorder that consists of the person suffering from it involuntarily interrupting their speech. Some factors such as being organic, psychic and stress can lead to stuttering pictures.
This condition can have serious consequences in the social life of the person who suffers from it because it is common for the affected person to withdraw and desist from speaking in public for fear of being joked and loaded with people, something that unfortunately happens very frequently.
And also the suffering of a brain injury, due to an accident or as a result of a disease, such as stroke, can cause, among other symptoms, difficulties in the patient's ability to speak.
