What Does Noun Mean?

To understand some words it is necessary to go back to their origin, such is the case when we question what a noun means.
When Latin was used, the noun was composed of the root, which is the meaning and accompanied by gender (masculine - feminine) and a suffix that is the number (plural - singular).
Which the noun stood out for cases like:
Nominative -> Subject
Genitive -> Possession
Accusative -> Direct Object
Dative -> Indirect object
Vocative -> To call
Ablative -> Other relationships.
Currently the noun is defined in three criteria.
1.- Semantic: In relation to its meaning, that is to say with the word that we name a certain object. From these derive concrete nouns and abstract nouns.
Example:

2.- Morphological: Here the noun undergoes a more representative change, since gender and number are included as the case may be.
Example:

Feminine New New
3.- Syntactic: In this section, there are a series of categories that make the noun have proprietary functions. As are the following:
a) Nucleus of the subject
b) Core of the indirect object
c) Direct object
d) Agent.
We also know the noun by its classification.
- Connotative extension: That is, how we name things in a broad way.
Example: pencil, mountain.
- Denotative: Here things receive their name with greater specificity.
Example: Niagara, Maria.
- Concrete nature: It refers to beings or nature that exist and are perceived by the senses without being under human control.
- Abstract: Unlike the previous one, they are things that exist that cannot be perceived by the senses, but they do exist. Example, love, affection, envy, etc.
- Quantity - individual: Refers to designate an object that belongs to a set. Example: bee, ant, dolphin, soldier, etc.
- Quantity - collective: Here a set of things or beings is named in a singular way, according to their class and / or gender. Example: Swarm, herd, flock, cluster, etc.
