At the instigation of a science or art, the aphorism turns out to be a expression brief, of the type sentence that is proposed to make the opinion of a rule or a precept through it.
Inherent characteristics of the aphorism are conciseness, brevity, and coherence and its objective will be through these weapons to emit an idea, an assessment that thunders and does not leave room for doubt or concern about what it is about.
Now, it should be noted that the truth does not always rule in aphorisms, much less since it can happen that what is proposed in an aphorism on a topic does not correspond at all with the truth or presents it half as it is said popularly. Therefore, it is important to consider that beyond the strictness that an aphorism can propose from its form, it does not imply that what is said in it is an absolute truth that is not discussed.
Although the aphorisms were born back in the heyday of Greek culture, during the 5th century B.C., in the mind of the great Greek physician Hippocrates when referring to symptoms and the
diagnosis of some affections, it is worth mentioning that the aphorism, over time, became a product almost excluding of the literature and of the poets who found in him a different way of expressing ideas, ideals, and of course demonstrate their great ingenuity, because without a doubt the aphorisms are owners of a unique genius usually. There are many authors and intellectuals who dedicate themselves exclusively to the production of aphorisms but there are also many authors who did not dedicate themselves exclusively to them but who were great cultists of them, leaving, every time they had the chance, some other brief sentence in his writings, Borges, Nietzsche and Machado, were some of them.
Below we propose some examples of this masterful way of expression.
The future tortures us, the past chains us. This is why the present eludes us; What does not kill you makes you stronger; doubt is one of the names of the intelligence…
