Although the term anaphora does not sound too familiar to us, we must say that in our language it is used to refer to various issues in various contexts.
In rhetoric: a literary figure
At the level of rhetoric, as the art and technique are called, of expressing oneself correctly and effectively, embellishing concepts that are used and giving the language an appeal that is capable of persuading or delighting the recipient, an anaphora is one of the many literary figures or rhetoric that the aforementioned art usually uses.
The importance of rhetorical figures in oratory
The figures literary books are very important and used at the behest of the oratory and anaphora is no exception... They are all unconventional ways of using words, which although many times are used with their usual meanings, they are accompanied by grammatical, phonic or semantic singularities that have the mission of marking the difference, it distances them from their classic use and that is why they end up being hyper expressive, which is the mission of their use, of course this.
Repetition of one or more words, either at the beginning of a verse or a sentence
Anaphora consists of the repetition of one or more words, either at the beginning of a verse or a sentence. "Attentive, attentive, Maria is turning the corner"... would be an example of anaphora in this sense that we mentioned.
On the other hand and in this context, the anaphora may consist of the repetition of the first words of a verse, how to be:
While the light waves to the kiss
Throb fiery,
While the sun the torn clouds
Of fire and gold sight,
While the air on your lap carry
Perfumes and harmonies,
As long as there is in the world spring,
There will be poetry! (Gustavo Adolfo Becquer)
And also through demonstrative pronouns an anaphora manifests itself by resorting to the text with implicit type mentions. For example, “Marina and Laura went to the party. Marina met a cousin she hadn't seen for years and the other one with her sister. "
Close connection with pragmatics
It is closely linked to pragmatics, which is a field of the linguistics which will deal with the way in which the context in question influences the understanding of meaning.
Because the sentences themselves have a semantic content, while their meaning and interpretation They do not depend on the content just to be interpreted according to, but also demand a context to do so.
It is known that a sentence can have different intentions or interpretations in different contexts. Thus it may result in one literal, another ironic, or failing that, metaphorical.
In Grammar: presence in the sentence of those elements that refer to a question mentioned above
While, in grammar, an anaphora will be the presence in the sentence of those elements that refer to a question mentioned above. For example, "Juan wants his son Pedro to win the game."
Use in the Christian religion
On the other hand, in the field of the Christian religion, the word anaphora is used to name the form that is uses at the behest of the celebration of the Eucharist and that includes the introductory dialogue and the action of Thank you.
Almost all the rites have anaphoras and are named after the name of a saint or an apostle to whom they are attributed and also with the mission of recognizing and distinguishing them.
And on the philosophical level, an anaphora will be the process from which a being begins and ends with the realization of it as such.
