The block of words in writing that are between two points and apart is called a paragraph. This structure can be as large or small as the author considers.

The first paragraph of a book or chapter is called an introductory paragraph and it talks about the topic to be read below, either to give a short summary of it or to talk about the reasons that the author had for his writing.

The introductory paragraph with anecdote It occurs when the writer sometimes refers to an entertaining and everyday experience that may or may not be personal and that is narrated in an informal and fun way.

Example of an introductory paragraph with anecdote:

Once, when I was very young, I witnessed an eclipse of the sun. I must have been about 8 years old when this happened. She was playing in the schoolyard when suddenly everything went dark. I was scared and ran to my teacher who told me not to be afraid, that she was a simple phenomenon that occurs from time to time and that I was very fortunate to witness a total eclipse of the sun in the middle day. When it finally happened, already in the classroom she explained to us everything about what we had just seen. I was so impressed by this that I began to do more research on the subject on my own, and each time I learned something new, many more questions arose. This was, I consider, the beginning of my astrophysics studies and the reason why I write this book aimed at children and adolescents, in a clear language that facilitates their understanding and motivates, as my teacher did with me, curiosity about this science that is so exciting.
