As its name suggests, a solar panel is a technology that takes advantage of the Sun as a source of Energy. There are three types of solar panels: monocrystalline, polycrystalline and amorphous. The former are made of a single crystal, the latter are made up of multiple crystals, and the third do not have a crystal structure.
Solar Panel Fundamentals
They are made of silicon, an element found in abundance on Earth. since it is extracted from the silica found in the sand. Silicon has a property singular for the production energy: it is a powerful semiconductor of electricity. On the other hand, his composition atomic makes it more feasible to get an electrical voltage.
Photovoltaic solar panels are made up of several layers. The upper layer is exposed to light and is made up of phosphor and the lower layer is added boron, a material that also facilitates the conduction of electricity. In this sense, a solar panel works as if it were an ordinary battery, since there is a negative charge with an excess of electrons and, on the other hand, a positive electrode that presents a deficit of electrons.
From a technological point of view, solar panels produce electricity from the action of sunlight.
Advantages of photovoltaic solar energy and main uses
Its advantages are very diverse. First of all, it is a non-polluting, constant and renewable energy. Since solar panels are silent, it is not produced contamination acoustics. It is an excellent option to provide energy to isolated areas. This energy source allows considerable economic savings (solar electricity is much cheaper than that obtained from power companies).
On the other hand, a house with solar panels is self-sufficient. Also, solar panels require a low maintenance. From an educational point of view, the use of this energy favors a attitude responsible for the little ones.
Lastly, this technology is constantly being refined and this makes it possible for many people to install their own solar panels.
Regarding the uses, solar panels allow lighting a house, charging any device and at a higher scale They can be used to provide illumination to entire buildings or to illuminate cities.
