Some painters resort to scribbles to communicate a world of fantasy, freedom and the absence of artistic conventions. The doodle has a component of childish purity and spontaneity, two elements typical of contemporary art. The list of painters who resort to "scribbles" is extensive: MirĂ³, Twombly, Beuys, Moyer, Dodge, among others.
