We understand by toy those elements that are designed and built specifically with the aim of providing the Username with a certain level of fun and relaxation. Designed for the most part to kids or pre-teens, we can also find toys for adults and for other age groups. In addition to being used to play, a toy can also seek that the child or whoever uses it can develop certain skills and abilities specific to their age range, intellectual level or knowledge. The shapes, sizes, colors and materials that a toy can have are endless and each design it is unique in itself.
A toy can be located within various categories that have to do with the recipient of the same, with the type of materials that it has, with the thematic to which it refers, with the type of game it poses, etc. In this sense, it is common to differentiate between baby toys, children's toys, toys for girls, toys for teenagers, etc. On the other hand, we can also talk about wit toys, table toys, toys for sports or physical activity, toys to perform different social games, etc.
Although the main function of the toy is to provide its user with a space of recreation and entertainment, the toy can also be of extreme importance in specific cases in which the individual who uses them can overcome their difficulties or disabilities and come into contact with other people. This is particularly visible in the case of infant therapies that use toys to allow communication between boys with difficulties and their therapists.
Traditionally, and for a long time, the toy symbolized an element of great value not so much material but emotional and psychological for the child who possessed it. Although such a situation continues to exist, especially with younger children, modernity and excessive offer toys of all kinds, colors, shapes, sizes and materials make it difficult for these objects to last more than a couple of years. While the materials used today are less resistant and more disposable (such as plastic, rubber or some clothS), consumerism means that children have to change toys on a regular basis so as not to lose the attention and interest in each object.
