When we use the term jewel we are referring to something of great value. Formally, the word jewel designates all those pieces as accessories that are used to decorate the body: necklaces, bracelets, bracelets, earrings, rings, buckles, etc. By saying that these objects they are jewels we are giving them a character much more refined since this term is used almost exclusively for pieces made with precious stones, gold, silver or with very delicate and expensive work. Thus, jewelry differs from what is commonly understood as bijouterie (the same pieces or decorative objects but made with less noble materials and therefore much more accessible). In the same way, following this idea, we can say that something or someone is a jewel when we consider that it has a lot of value (for example, a book that it is a jewel is because it is unique or important to someone, in the same way that a person considered a jewel is also special and different from others).
But going back to
common sense of the word, the jewels are one of the elements that the human being has used the most throughout history to decorate his body. Thus, when textiles were not sufficiently colorful (as was the case in Ancient Egypt), colors were given to clothing through gold and lapis lazuli jewelry. In other times, jewels have also had an important value as an element of power, having the kings and rulers crowns made of gold and covered with precious stones that demonstrated their dominion over the rest of the Humans. Today, jewelry is seen more than anything as a matter of beauty used mainly by women to decorate parts of your body such as fingers, wrists or ankles, neck and chest, ears, hair, etc.It is very clear that when we talk about jewelry we are talking about accessories or very expensive items that only a small part of the population can acquire. Its exclusivity resides in two main facts: the use of extremely expensive and fragile materials such as precious stones and on the other hand the enormous work of creativity, realization Y resolution what do you require. This is another of the elements that differentiates jewels from bijouterie.
