The concept of republican is used in a way excluding in the political sphere, on the one hand, to designate everything that is owned or associated with the republic and the republican system of government.
In the republican system, the Constitution, is considered as the rule mother and is in charge of regulating all the actions that occur in him, according to right and respecting the condition of the equality before the law.
For example, all those nations that have a system of government such as the one indicated will be called a republic. Argentina, France, China, among other nations, enjoy the status of republics.
Likewise, we must emphasize that those individuals who promote and defend a proposal politics with the aforementioned characteristics they are designated as republicans.
And on the other hand it is also used extensively to designate one of the two major political parties in the United States, the Republican party in effect and also to name those who belong to and coincide with the ideology proposed by this political group.
The Republican Party along with the Democratic Party are the political groups with the longest history and presence throughout the political history of the United States. They have even ruled alternately only both since the 19th century.
Precisely, the Republican Party dates from those times, being founded in 1854.
Just as the Democratic Party represents the interests of the sector with progressive and liberal ideas, the Democratic Party has to represent the conservative ideals of the community. That is, the Republican party must be located on the political right and always promoting and defending those ideas and doctrines that have tradition. They are not what is said permeable to changes and regardless of whether it corresponds or not, or even, having become obsolete as a result of the evolution that has occurred in society, Republicans advocate upholding traditional values.
At present they are the political force opposing the government in exercise of Barack Obama but also the one with the largest political representatives in Parliament.
The last president of this group was George W. Bush.
