The rivalry is the dispute that is established between two or more individuals, or between groups, when achieving the same end, or on the way to overcome the same.
Dispute between two or more people whose mission is to achieve a goal
For this reason, the decision that provokes in a person to position himself as another's rival, has a series of objectives to fulfill, and a justification to such attitude.
Rivalry is an extremely frequent situation in almost all contexts and also in all ages, since it does not distinguish a specific age but quite the contrary, from children to mature adults can maintain a rivalry situation with other.
As we said, rivalry has specific objectives and the subject who competes with another will always have a justification for acting in that confrontational way.
The objectives is what I want to achieve competing, we could say competing, with the other.
And of course, that objective, that goal or that end, will have a justification.
For example, I put myself in place of "rival" with a coworker, because my goal is to surpass him in number of hours worked, to demonstrate that I am an effective employee and interested in work, which will surely be in my favor when requesting a salary increase or a ascent.
Rivalry in sports, at work... the most common
Generally, rivalry arises in the performance of jobs, tasks and activities, and of course in the personal level of an individual's life; rivalries between family members, siblings, cousins, for example, as a consequence of the mission to please a third party, such as the father, grandparents, among others, are extremely common.
And not to mention the professional plane in which rivalries are the order of the day between colleagues or between individuals who work in the same job or commercial area and want to improve professional positions.
Now, the rivalry that is established between one and the other can be characterized as a calm, peaceful rivalry that never exceeds or takes the consequences beyond the cause itself, or failing that, if it goes beyond the limits and ends up becoming a serious, serious dispute that may affect the emotional stability of one of the parties, or even triggering some serious physical sequela as a result of a fight motivated by the same rivalry between the parties. parts.
Sports rivalry is one of the most common types that individuals maintain as such or as groups, since it involves the passionate confrontation between athletes and clubs sports.
Although the rivalry is not only established between opposing players, or between opposing technicians, but it exceeds them and reaches the fans and fans of the sports groups. In this case, as in the rest, the scope of the rivalry can go further and lead to serious violent events.
For this reason, international associations such as FIFA (in the case of football) have begun to promote for some years awareness campaigns and promotion of the so-called "fair game" or commonly known as Fair Play.
In this way, it tries to promote good practices in the field of play, understanding that these will be the basis for being able to to spread to the fans of sports clubs the spirit of "rivalry" without aggression and recognizing the other from the I respect.
Undoubtedly, it is one of the strategic bets (although perhaps not enough) of these important international associations to alleviate the situation of violence and aggression that have been experienced for decades between fans of different teams.
Sports passion is not only a reason for rivalry.
Other "passions" such as religion, politics, the music, geographic locations and even art are areas that have also managed to generate fiery differences and controversies.
Thats why he sense of belonging which on many occasions becomes "fanaticism", leads to establishing an attitude of opponent, or rival, in front of the other who, undoubtedly, does not belong to the same "team" as us.
People who maintain a rivalry, who compete with each other for the various issues that we have been mentioning are called rival, and it can be a single person or a group.
All living things compete for something: food, territory, power, love
Now, rivalry is not only established between human beings but almost all beings The living may at some point assume the role of rival of another with whom they have a dispute over something.
Plants, for example, compete with each other to capture the greatest amount of solar energy, which as we know, is their primary food and source of life.
Animals maintain great rivalries with others of the same species or others, either for the territory, for food, or for couples.
Now, as human beings are in a higher stage of development than the rest of the beings mentioned, they will have more complex rivalries, they also vie for food, love and territory, and other issues such as cultural, political, and spiritual, to name a few of the most currents.
It is important to note that a rival does not have to be taken as an enemy, as a bad and despicable person, although unfortunately this often happens.
Rivalry can be productive and good if it is developed with respect
The rivalry could be productive many times, because it could drive us and encourage us to be better in some activity, to improve in some matter, that is, rivalry is good on many occasions and healthy for case.
It will make us strive to achieve something and that is always good because it makes us grow as people.
As long as it is not taken as a hostile confrontation, of life or death, something that unfortunately many times it happens and a small fight can end in a tragic dispute that can never be return.
People are often forced to compete with others in the society in which we live, Now, it is up to us to make the decision to engage in a healthy and productive rivalry or everything contrary.
We must promote positive rivalry and that which makes us grow in all planes and areas of life and of course discourage that which does not produce any revenue other than bad moments.
