Digestion is one of the most important processes of all living beings since it is the one that allows them to transform the food on nutrients that are absorbed into the body and allow the individual in question to continue living. Digestion varies from animal to animal but in all cases it is a rather complex process that involves various organs and muscles.
Digestion can be understood as a mechanical and chemical function, one of the capacities of living beings whose objective is the transformation and alteration of food (meat, vegetables, dairy, flour) in different types of nutrients (protein, minerals, vitamins, fats) that are used by the body to grow and continue living. Digestion is known as a catabolism since it is characterized by transforming the food and products consumed into smaller elements and separating their parts until they become absorbable by the different tissues and organs of the body. We can say that the main function of the digestive process is obtaining Energy.
The apparatus The digestive system is one of the most complex and in humans it occupies an important part of the body since it is made up of various organs and requires several phases. While the beginning of the same is given from the consumption of some food that is introduced into the oral cavity (where it already begins to be transformed by the glands that are there), the second instance It is that of the pharynx and esophagus, spaces through which the already transformed food is led to finally reach the digestion zone proper. This is basically known as the mechanical phase.
The next phase is chemistry, the one in which gastric liquids and juices are provided to separate the molecules and make the bolus much easier to work with. These chemicals are applied to organs such as the pancreas, gallbladder, stomach and then in the intestines. The final phase of the digestive process is the execretion of non-nutritive elements, a phase that ends in the final section of the digestive system known as the anus.
