Greeting is a courtesy gesture that shows the value of social gestures in interpersonal relationships. A gesture of recognition towards the other is the greeting. A greeting is shown through the usual formulas such as: "Hello", "Good morning", "Good afternoon", "How are you?". The greeting is a brief contact in inerpersonal encounters. For example, people can greet acquaintances they meet on the street without stopping their passage.
Similarly, any professional can greet co-workers they meet in the elevator when they arrive at the office. From the psychological point of view, although the most common is that people greet people they know, it is also possible to have gestures to greet strangers.
Greet strangers
For example, if when entering a restaurant at that very moment another person comes out the door. In other interpersonal encounters, for example, when two friends meet for coffee and chat for a while, the face-to-face meeting begins with a greeting that marks the starting point of that plan.
The greeting can also be shown through body language. Each culture has its own greeting formulas and protocols. For example, giving a hug to a friend it can be a form of greeting. The greetings that occur in the personal context are usually more emotional than those that occur in the professional field where the person has a greater self controlemotional and take more care of your image.
The degree of trust
Through the way in which two people greet each other, it is also possible to visualize the degree of confidence they have between them. Similarly, the form of the salutation can also show emotions. For example, in the reunions that take place at airports during Christmas, the intensity of longing is evident.
Greetings can also be formal, showing reverence for a person who is worshiped for a specific reason. A greeting also has a concrete form through the expression written from a letter or a email. In this case, the greeting leads the message once the appeal is made to the interlocutor: "Dear friend" can be a form of greeting.
