The term black moon refers to an astronomical phenomenon. This phenomenon occurs when the Moon cannot be observed from the Earth due to the effect of sunlight, since the glare of the Sun makes it impossible to see the Moon. In other words, the position of the Moon with respect to the Sun it is imperceptible to the human eye and this makes one speak of the Black Moon. It must be taken into account that the Moon is the inseparable companion of the Earth in space, since both planets rotate at the same time around the Sun.
Phases of the Moon and the Black Moon
In its orbit around Earth, the Moon receives sunlight and only a variable part of its illuminated face is visible from Earth. The phases of the Moon are as follows: new, waxing, full and waning. These changes are due to the fact that when the Moon rotates around the Earth and the Earth around the Sun, the light that falls on the visible side of the Moon is not always the same.
The phases of the Moon are the different illuminations that the terrestrial satellite passes through when making a complete revolution around the Earth
In this sense, the periodicity of the lunar phases allows us to calculate when a black moon will appear, which is also known as a dark moon. During this period the sunlight is located on the back of the Moon and this makes us see it totally black. As for his duration, this phase lasts for three days.
The black moon and astrology
If we raise the concept of the black moon from the parameters of astrology, we are in a very debatable reality from a scientific point of view.
The first references to the Black Moon are found in the mythology Babylonian and Jewish scriptures. In these stories the Black Moon is associated with the occult and mystery and, on the other hand, this lunar phase is symbolically represented by Lilith, Adam's first wife. These accounts were later incorporated by astrological descriptions of horoscopes. Thus, the black moon alludes to emotions hidden and everything that remains in the depths of the human spirit.
In the language astrological the black moon is related to the dark side and Sinister of the human being and with what goes beyond what rational. In this way, when an astral chart is read and the black moon appears, the interpreter of the letter refers to the existential emptiness or the lack of true emotions.
