An Empire is called that state that observes a domain over extensive territories or, although it does not formally possess them as part of its territory, exerts a notable influence on other states that respond to it politically. This reached its maximum extent during the reign of Trajan and spanned from the Ocean Atlantic to the west to the shores of the Black Sea, the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf to the east and from the Desert from the Sahara to the south to the lands on the banks of the Rhine and Danube rivers and the border with Caledonia to the north, covering an incredible area of 6.14 million square kilometers.
