While they may sometimes be referred to as such, the United Arab Emirates is not a country but a union or federationpolitics of states that are located in the Arabian peninsula and that share diverse social, economic and cultural elements among themselves.
Today, the United Arab Emirates is one of the richest and most dynamic countries in the world that bases its economy and its growth largely in exploitation and Commerce petroleum. These activities yield an incredible amount of capital to the region that is reinvested in different areas, especially the tourism.
In geographical terms they are located in the southeastern region of the Arabian peninsula
They are surrounded to the north by the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, while to the south they share their borders with the Arab countries of Oman and Saudi Arabia. The city of Abu Dhabi is the official capital of this political federation and belongs to the emirate of the same name.
The seven emirates are Abu Dhabi, Dubai (where the most populated and important city of the federation is located, an important tourist center), Fujairá, Sarja, Um el Kaiwain, Ajman and Ras el Khaima. All these emirates are Arab and are governed by a federal monarchy that prevents the existence of political parties but grants certain special autonomies to each region.
The United Arab Emirates has around four and a half million inhabitants, most of whom are immigrants from other regions of the Near and Far East. This social and population peculiarity has to do more than anything with the fact that this region of the planet has become the last decades as one of the most important political, economic and tourist centers of the East and the whole world, for which a large part of the population Arabs from neighboring countries, as well as a significant number of multinational companies set up in the region to develop different types of activities.
The infrastructure and the town planning of the cities of the United Arab Emirates is undoubtedly striking and very particular since it takes many influences from the urban designs of the West.
Much of the constructions, means of transport, buildings and service systems differentiate this federation from the rest of the Arab countries that still remain mired in a certain traditionalism.
