We have the need to classify and label everything around us. This trend also applies to people. In recent years, a new concept has become fashionable to talk about the world of children, kids indigo.

Main features

- These children are claimed to have an aura singularIt is violet in color, more specifically indigo color. This name is used because this dye is related to the properties of the third eye, one of the best-known symbols of esotericism.

- They have a very pronounced emotional and sensitive part. They seem like adults, since they manifest spiritual interests.

- They are especially creative and because of this they tend to get bored with more conventional school activities. In the school they are impatient and restless and for this reason they are considered disobedient and troublesome.

- They stand out for their empathy towards people who suffer and towards animals. With some frequency they reject the consumption meat, as they consider that this way of eating is disrespectful to living beings.

- Although they may seem antisocial, they have a great safety in themselves. On the other hand, they resist authority and with some frequency they collide with the world of adults.

The evaluations about these children come from the New era, a spiritual current that proposes a countercultural revolution

Indigo child, rainbow child or crystal child are the best known names to speak of those children with some "spiritual" singularity. This vision of the children's world is not recognized by the scientific community, since it is part of a pseudoscientific current, the New era or New age.

According to the proselytes of this current (some affirm that it is actually a religious sect) the Indigo children are in this world with a mission: to help the spiritual transformation of the humanity. It is claimed that these children will put their creativity at the service of others in order to break down the traditional barriers that limit the human being.

The question of the indigo children can be understood as a deformation of language to hide another reality

Psychologists specializing in child behavior do not use the term indigo child or similar ones. These labels are very far from scientific terminology. In this sense, the new names for the youngest may be more attractive than others, such as attention deficit, hyperactivity, etc.

On the other hand, the supposed aura of these children is something that has never been demonstrated.
